WHAT IS SCANDINAVIAN INDUSTRIAL?
Scandinavian industrial design is a design movement that originated in the Nordic countries of Denmark, Finland, Norway, Sweden, and Iceland in the early 20th century. It is characterized by its functional, minimalist, and modernist approach, characterized by simple and elegant forms, use of natural materials, and a focus on functionality and usability. This was my spin in the style being 50% Southern Norwegian (Lund, Norway). I love quality and having nice things that most all people do not. So I spent a lot of time, effort, and money to develop THE SCANDINAVIAN TRESTLE BASE. Overbuilt, solid, badass. This is a costly base to make. I wanted to trump all bases of this size available online in terms of design, quality of the castings, and finish.
The Scandinavian industrial design combines the principles of modernism and functionalism with the traditional craft techniques and natural materials such as wood, leather, metal, and textiles. The approach emphasizes the quality of the material, simplicity, and versatility, which makes the design pieces functional and very easy to adapt in different environments.
Scandinavian industrial design places great importance on sustainability, creating products that are long-lasting, environmentally friendly, and with a minimal carbon footprint. Scandinavian designers aim to produce high-quality products that serve their purpose but are also aesthetically pleasing to the eye.
Some of the most prominent figures in Scandinavian industrial design include Arne Jacobsen, Alvar Aalto, Hans Wegner, and Poul Henningsen. They have designed a broad range of everyday objects, furniture pieces, and home accessories that have become iconic and influential in the world of design
